Madhusudana – The slaying of the twin demonic forces – Madhu and Kaitabha

Madhusudana – The slaying of the twin demonic forces – Madhu and Kaitabha

Astrology
The word Madhusudana means ‘slayer of Madhu’. This name is often used for Krishna in the Mahabharata epic, especially by the Pandava prince, Arjuna, in the Bhagvad Gita section. Madhu was an Asura or demon who was killed by Lord Vishnu in his horse-like incarnation, Hayagriva. The demon’s twin brother, Kaitabha, was also killed by Vishnu. Krishna, too, is an incarnation of Vishnu, which is why he is referred to as Madhusudana. Madhu and Kaitabha, the twin demonic forces, took birth from the wax that came out of Vishnu’s ears. Madhu represented “Tamasic guna“ or darkness, while Kaitabha represented “Rajasik guna” or activity. These gunas are the basest elements of human nature, the fundamental energies that are present in all creation. The two demons undertook penance for man...

GETTING READY FOR JUPITER RETROGRADE: JUNE 20-OCT 18 – Applied Vedic Astrology

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookJUPITER RETROGRADE: JUNE 20-OCT 18TH Jupiter is the big dog in the sky that everyone loves and it is very powerful as it prepares to go retrograde June 20-Oct 18th in the sign of Aquarius at around 7 degrees.  The natal chart of the US has its natal Moon here so this may bode well for the US over the next few weeks.  The last part of the retrograde will be in Capricorn as it back-tracks briefly there Sept. 14-Nov. 20th and stays in late degrees of Capricorn at 28-29 degrees much of September- November.  Planets at the late degree of a sign are a  bit unsettled–like a person changing jobs, moving, or changing relationships so September/October/November may be more complicated for Pisces and Sagittarius rising. Jupiter is ...

NEPTUNE STATIONARY RETROGRADE JUNE 25-DEC 2, 2021 and the Constellation of Pegasus and World Politics – Applied Vedic Astrology

Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookEYE ON THE SKY: NEPTUNE RETROGRADE Neptune turns retrograde on June 18th and stays there until Dec. 2nd.  Retrograde Neptune increases psychic energy. As Lynn Koiner notes: “Similar to the natal retrograde Neptune, the transiting retrograde causes sensitivity and receptivity to being much more acute. Due to this heightened receptivity, we are allowed to see far more than is possible when Neptune is direct. This is possibly a result of augmented intuitive or inner vision that bestows a different and more insightful perspective on matters.” While the outer planets are not a traditional part of Vedic astrology, I find them important for understanding collective behavior and if they impact sensitive points in your chart with...

MUSING ON DEATH AND THE BEYOND – Applied Vedic Astrology

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookEYE ON SPIRITUALITY: MAKING PEACE WITH DEATH We live in a very changing and anxious world with the Covid scare and with the military industrial complex more interested in weapons and wars and corporate profit than people.   Saturn in Capricorn is a bit of a grim reaper and since its entrance in Capricorn and also the entrance of Pluto there, our optimistic Sagittarian view got thrown under the bus. With the Covid crisis in India, my heart sinks everyday when I see another post about a dear one passing. I am in my 60’s and have many friends in their 70’s and it does not take much to push on something serious.  Saturn takes over for everyone at age 70 in the Nasargika Dasha which reflects the natural cycles of life.  We ha...

THE UNSEEN HAND-DIVINE GRACE BEHIND THE SCENES – Applied Vedic Astrology

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookEYE ON SPIRITUAL ASTROLOGY: DIVINE GRACE AND ASTROLOGY In Vedic astrology, Jupiter represents the Guru of the spiritual realm and Venus the Guru of the material realm.  Jupiter is stronger now having gotten out of the material sludge of Capricorn and is moving toward stationary/ retrograde action into June 20th in Aquarius, a friendly and philosophical sign.  Many  think that Jupiter does well in this sign and the 12 year Kumbha Mela in India is a celebration of Jupiter going into Aquarius.   Venus is in Gemini and doing well in a friend’s sign.   Ketu moved into Saturn’s constellation of Anuradha (Scoprio 3.20-16.39) on June 1st and may be stirring up things (we will write more later).    Despite all the chaos from COVI...

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookVENUS IN GEMINI: May 28-June 22nd Venus moves into Gemini on May 28th and stays there until June 22nd. It is a positive transit as Mars is leaving Gemini on June 1st and that is the only malefic influence other than a 30-degree aspect from Rahu in Taurus. It also gets an expansive trine from Jupiter which is exact into June 4th and that can create overspending but happy and expansive feelings of love. Overall it is positive and will still foster a love of poetry and creative writing so for creative writers and songwriters, creative coding for computer programmers, and sweet communications. This is your time to get that pen out and get that novel started or that book of poetry edited. If creativity does not flow toward th...

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookMARS IN CANCER–ADVENTURES OF THE DE-CLAWED CAT JUNE 1- JULY 20TH Mars goes into his sign of debilitation on Tuesday, June 1st and stays there for about 6 weeks.    The  word gets misused and misunderstood so much. Debilitated planets have to work 3 times as hard to manifest their significations and their negative qualities may come out, but they do teach us things also.   Mars actually become less potent to cause trouble if he is a difficult planet for you,   as he is a bit like a declawed cat–irritated but not able to cause harm. The problem with Mars in Cancer this year is that it opposes Pluto into June 5th and opposes Saturn into July 1st.   The Mars/Pluto opposition creates an inability and frustrated around help to...

Astrology
Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger FacebookEYE ON THE SKY: MERCURY RETROGRADE IN GEMINI/TAURUS MAY 29-JUNE 22ND Mercury went into Gemini today on May 26th and is weak in degrees in the early part of the sign and unfortunately stays less than 1 degree in Gemini and then is at 29 degrees in Taurus until June 5th. Planets in early and late degrees lose power and so communications can get out of wacky and technological challenges can happen. Everyone cringes at the thought of Mercury retrograde but it is not bad for everyone and gets a lot of bad press. You all know about Mercury retrograde so I wanted to share some new things. First of all, if you were born with Mercury retrograde, you are more right-brain orientated and have more spatial orientation and recognize p...
