EYE ON THE SKY: JUPITER IN AQUARIUS (6.40-19.59)-CONSTELLATION OF SHATABHISHA
May 21-July 22, 2021
Jan 1, 2022-April 13, 2022
Jupiter transits into the constellation of Shatabhisha on May 21st and stays there until late July and then goes back into that constellation on Jan. 1st after its retrograde movement from June 20-Oct. 17th, 2021. This star in Western astronomy is known as Gamma Aquarri and is located at 6.40-Aquarius to 20.00 Aquarius in the zodiac and is ruled by Rahu the North Node and connected to the Vedic god, Varuna who rules the ocean and directs the Sun and the wind.
Prash Trivedi notes that Shatabhisha means the 100 physicians and symbolizes the empty circle representing the void of creation, the circle of maintenance and dissolution. The main deity is Varuna, the lord of the Oceans, and is connected to magical herbs and in the darkest sense to intoxicants. At its highest level, this star is connected to Shiv, the lord of ascetics and its highest level and desire is to dissolve into the infinite ocean although sometimes the darker aspect of this constellation seeks to do this through drugs and intoxicants.
This constellation is connected with secrecy and invention and discovery. In its reclusive, solitary, and eccentric state, deep inventive energies can rise up and deep mystical secrets can rise to the surface. Western astrologers connect these qualities with Aquarius and the Uranian energies and they are very much a part of this constellation. The energies of this nakshatra seek the truth. It is the most satvic of the Rahu-based nakshatras in energy and can lead to deep healing and self-inquiry. When it is connected to benefics like with the Jupiter transit, it is more satvic and it strives to merge with the unbounded quality of the Divine.
This constellation is connected to Rakshasas which are sometimes known as demons but in modern psychology, we need to rename them as the inner demons of our mind. While the constellation and its connection to Rahu seeks independence and wants to be eccentric, but it is not necessarily evil but it seems to break through attachments and normal conventions. At its deepest level, Rahu brings out major rebellion energy against societal norms to transform outmoded societal norms. With Jupiter’s transit here, maybe the energy will finally come to overcome the tyrannical power of the governments, lock-downs, vaccine passports and corruption.
This constellation highly philosophical, socially active, and humanitarian in its nature. It forces us to break down all boundaries of race, age, status, nationality, and religion and usher in a feeling of oneness with humanity. Given the liberal agenda and the Age of Woke, it would seem Jupiter would empower this energy now.
The nature of this constellation is very connected to healing and sometimes it can unleash difficult health issues but with the Jupiter transit, the power and wisdom to overcome them are enhanced. In stock market sectors, this constellation is very connected to Bio-Tech and we wonder if that sector will come to life. More promising, we finally get a real cure for Covid rather than hopes from an experimental vaccine.
If you have your Sun in this constellation and were born between Feb. 19-March 4th, you might be an unreliable person caught between the shadows and the light. You may be very self-critical and unable to live up to your standards leading to self-loathing regarding your weaknesses.
This is a time for deep healing and if you fail to face your demons and succumb to addictive patterns, you could be for a dark journey the next few months. It will be important to go for the light and do your spiritual practices and go for the deep healing.
Remember this is a quest to annihilate the ego and will require deep healing work to be done. Good time over the next few months to take a long meditation retreat for a week to merge with the divine otherwise, the mind may seem plagued with addictive patterns.
Jupiter’s transit here is powerful and a chance to work on the higher self and move toward more spirituality as it confronts its demons and addictive patterns. The wisdom of Jupiter will provide refreshment to allow the short-coverings a person to be revealed and to turn them around. The mythology of this constellation involving the Puranic Myth of Valmiki, the robber who transformed his life and became the great sage and author of Yoga Vashishta and the Ramayana, is an inspiration to us all to find redemption and move beyond our mistakes. Hence with the Jupiter transit, there is great power in starting 12 step programs and letting go of bad habits, and working toward redemption.
The nature of this constellation is that is very intuitive and at the same time because of the influence of Rahu, it can have too many confusing thoughts and wild energies and Jupiter’s transit here should help tame them. Normally if you are born with key planets in the constellation there can be a tendency for sadness and depression but the Jupiter transit should give you the power to overcome that energy now if you turn to meditation and deep healing.
So enjoy the power of transformation and healing coming with this transit and let’s hope that the planet gets healed at the same time.
